Early Childhood / Early Intervention

pencil drawing of man, woman and childThe Early Childhood Department's main focus is on children from birth to three years old. Our Early Intervention program serves families who have a child under three years old who has a significant delay in their development. We partner with our local school districts to determine eligibility for the program and then deliver services in the child’s home.

The Early Intervention program matches your child with a therapist who will work directly with them while teaching you the tips and tricks you can use every day to promote growth. As a parent or caregiver you are the key to your child’s success and with the help of a therapist you will be instrumental in your child making progress. Parents are involved in each therapy session and are given strategies to carry out during your everyday routines and activities.

Research shows that the first three years of life are the most important time for developing and learning and the Early Intervention program can help a child develop to be the best that they can. Early Intervention services are available at no cost to you and are funded by Federal, State, and Local governments, but your service coordinator will ask you about any health insurance you may have, as this source must be considered too.

If you are concerned about your child’s development or have been given a diagnosis by your doctor that has a high probability of resulting in a significant developmental delay, you can contact our intake line at 303-858-BABY (2229).
