Advisory Memo from Sharon Jacksi, Director of the Division for Developmental Disabilities

September 3, 2009

The CES and SLS Coversheet Rate Guides were updated to reflect recent clarification from the Division for Developmental Disbilities regarding a few of the services.

August 20, 2009

The Division for Developmental Disabilities announced that the authorization limits for SLS and CES plans will not go into effect until the individual annual plan, and not if a change needs to occur prior to that time, for all plans held prior to July 1, 2009. The service limit for respite goes into effect at that time as well. The specific service limits that are in effect starting July 1, 2009 are Mentorship, Parent Education, Home Accessibility Adaptations, Assistive Tech and Vehicle Modifications.

More About the SLS-CES Changes

Starting In July 2009 the services provided in the SLS and CES programs will change. In addition, the rates paid to providers will be standardized, and the authorization limits for Service Plans will be based on the Supports Intensity Scale, and thus plan amounts may be reduced. These changes were made by the State offices of the Division for Developmental Disabilities and Health Care Policy and Financing with the approval of the federal oversight agency, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services. As these changes may greatly effect the services you or your family member receive, it is important to review the information posted. This page contains all the information disseminated from the state so that you are aware of how those changes will effect you.
